  1. Congratulations Scot!
  2. I tie mine. It's a bit of a pain, but I don't think my boots would stay on my feet if I didn't!
  3. I never got to meet Jason, but we messaged back and forth quite a bit. When I was building my WTF armor, he was putting together a WTF helmet at the same time. We bounced ideas and pictures off each other for months. He was always kind and I wished to meet him some day. My thoughts go out to his family and friends. RIP my friend.
  4. Ok thanks folks. I started to panic when my holster just Fell off my boot!
  5. I honestly thought they were long enough. I suppose they weren't. So, longer rivets and use washers instead of the ABS.
  6. So, I was trying to get my boot holster riveted to my boot tonight and the whole thing fell apart. I used a backing inside the boot to have something for the rivets to grab on to. But alas, they just fell out after 20 seconds. Now there are four holes in my boot, four rivets in my holster that I have no idea how to get out, and I have Wizard Con this Saturday. Please, suggestions are welcome.
  7. I used Rust-oleum 2X Ultra Cover Paint+Primer Semi-Gloss White. My helmet turned out fantastic. (WTF armor by the way)
  8. Man that looks so good. What paint did you use? I still need to finish up the visor, then glue in the face, then put it all together. Hopefully this weekend it will be finished!!!
  9. My mentor and I ended up going to an Auto Zone to get what we needed. It worked, but it's a bit of a mess. We started the sanding process so hopefully my helmet will be finished soon; before the 9th. *fingers crossed*
  10. Ok thank you so much!
  11. Hey all, For those of you who have had experience with WTF builds, what did you use to fill in the gap between the two halves of the helmet, and sand down before painting? On one of Walt's video tutorials, he talks about using devcon to attach both halves together (I did that) and continue using it to fill in the gaps. Problem: I am out of devcon, this product is no where around me, and I'm trying to get this costume finished before June 9th for Wizard World in Columbus. Would bondo work? I've never used bondo or similar before. https://imgur.com/a/08JG4Zp
  12. For someone who has done a WTF kit, can you help me out? For the face plate, how much should be trimmed off the top?
  13. OK, I think I got this picture thing worked out. Here's my TD and how I think the clips should go. Thoughts? Also, the center piece of velcro is holding a snap, so I can snap it to my belt buckle.
  14. Ok thanks. The back of the detonator was exactly what I was looking for.
  15. Hello everyone! I'm getting (sorta) close to finishing my armor and have a question about the thermal detonator: how far apart/close do the clips go? Are they further towards the end caps, or are they more aligned with the box. And I would upload pictures but I keep getting and error saying the file is too big. Thanks in advance.
  16. I got Large gloves a couple weeks ago and wish I had purchased XL. Even after measuring my hand "correctly" I still wish I had gone with XL because I was in between sizes as well. I feel like their gloves run small.
  17. Man, your armor is looking good. This thread has answered a lot of questions I've had with my WTF kit.
  18. I had the exact same question! This is great, thanks!
  19. I've had WTF armor for a few months now and still have no idea what I'm doing with it. I had read before that WTF armor is some of the most accurate, but he doesn't tell you how to put it together. The helmet is eluding me the most.
  20. Griffin, wow, thanks! This is exactly what I was looking for!!!!! 007, you're right! I did find some 1.5" off white colored strapping at Jo Ann's, but I'm not going to change the color of my cummerbund.
  21. BikerScout007, I can't find any of the webbing for the belt. I've come across straps that would work, if only they were the correct color. Usually the straps are black when I need them to be white.
  22. Hello all! I've searched and searched and SEARCHED for all the belt strapping, correct sizes for the elastic (found some), and correct sizes for the Velcro needed for my WTF armor. Where did you folks get your pieces? I have searched through Jo Ann's, Hobby Lobby, Menards, Wal-Mart, and Target with no luck! Any ideas?
  23. Thank you so much for this!
  24. I have questions as well regarding the suede. Is there a template or pattern for the shape of the suede piece? I have the Red Kap coveralls also. Has anyone sewed it on by hand? I would rather not have to split the leg open since I am no good at using a sewing machine. I'm completely at a loss with how to do this.
  25. This was a fantastic and enjoyable read. I'm awaiting my order from WTF and can't wait to start my build. I have to admit, after reading 14 pages worth of information, I am a little overwhelmed. Still, I can't wait to use this tutorial!
