  1. I 'studied' the scenes this evening and it seems to me there was one suit (the first one?) made with extra padding in the cumberbund because 'it' appears a couple of times. Then there are other versions that appear to have no padding. One thing I did do to my cumberbund after seeing the screen versions was squeeze it with elastic bands to give it (eventually) the correct 'used horizontal folds' shape that all the film versions have. Optionally you could wear it for a month and the same folds would appear I'm sure.
  2. It seems to me from screen grabs that the whole cumberbund has some padding not just the ribbed section. What's the general consensus on this? In this pic it looks like the velco seem has padding and the rest of the cumberbund for that matter based on the rounded forms of the shadows created by the bulging material. As usual if there is already a thread about this just point me in the right direction and I'll delete this one). Thanks!
  3. Could this 'iron technique' convert these SC elastic slots into the exhibition/real thing designed recessed slots do you think? (I hope Panadatrooper is ok I reused one of his photos).
  4. Those videos are excellent. They really prepare you for the process.
  5. Thanks! I'll have a look.
  6. Ours is just a conventional metal plate. I'll just have to give it a try on a test piece of ABS.
  7. We have here a small travel iron. Maybe that could do? Is the iron applied directly to the ABS or does it need some kind of buffer?
  8. I found this just in the nick of time as I am starting my SC put together myself. I also pretty quickly saw the need for the return edges. My question is twofold if I may. Between the helmet and the armor which parts require or did you apply the return edges? Secondly, what can us normal folk use to create the edges? For example I was thinking of heating the edges up with a hair dryer and bending them with protected tipped pliers. What about a 'normal' iron. Could that be used? Thanks!
  9. The MLC and Cucblak have excellent deep (realistic) ear holes which I like. The SC do not have recessed ear holes at all but I am going to find a solution for that.
  10. His seems to be more and more often an option. http://www.thingiverse.com/make:231039 You get the template file and find someone to print out the gun, put it together and do the sanding, painting. Not too hard. I have told the guy it should not have a trigger but what about the rest?
  11. So, I've got the pieces now I just need to put it all together. As it turns out there is a 501 detachment here in Luxembourg so I have to do a good job! It's mostly pretty clear what you have to do to get 501 approval. For the moment my only trouble is finding a decent balaclava that is not just a tube but rather tightens up around the neck. Amazon sellers photos are very deceiving. I am not 'impressed' with using decals for the ear intake holes nor the nose breathers in spite of how film build correct they may be. If there is a thread for how people replaced these decals with paint (rear of helmet) and the ear holes with some kind of more 'realistic' construction I am keen to hear that. But at the same time it still has to get 501 approval. Thanks..... Chris
