I think the important thing to keep in mind as that most people aren’t going to analyze this costume the way we would. My brother for example is a mega fan, but he wouldn’t see a different in this vs return of the Jedi. You could also make the argument that since what’s left of the empire is hanging on by a thread these guys don’t care what they look like anymore. All that being said it is disappointing to see that Lucasfilm couldn’t just make a few simple adjustments to make them look better, but like I said most people outside the costume world aren’t gonna notice the difference. -
I just edited the tutorial to make a note of this.

Biker Scout Boots Tutorial
cheesewhoopy replied to cheesewhoopy's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Soft Parts
Are you looking for rebels soft goods? I can make the boots for a rebels scout trooper. I have not made the cummerbund for that version yet, but I do make the regular scout trooper cummerbund. -

Hey, so I usually glue about a third on each side and leave a third without glue in the middle. For super accuracy you’d only wanna glue just the edges because it looks like it was sewn on that way. The reason I like to do more than just the edge is because I don’t want it to rip off. Adding glue a little higher up gives a little more security. -
Hey, I sent you a message with some feedback on the helmet.

I don’t wanna sound like my way is the only way. There are a thousand ways to skin a jawa. But I can say I’ve made probably about 50 pairs of boots (including my personal pair) and I always use CA glue for the strip that goes around the toe. I have not experienced any issues and have done many troops in all different kinds of weather. And no one has complained to me about the toe strip having issues. Just to be clear the super glue is only used on the toe strip and the outskirts of the tubing. E6000 should be used on the toe where it will need to flex and on the main portion of the tubing. *edit* Sorry I also use it on the outsides of the dog bone because only the center flexes which I leave unglued. Apologies if I made that confusing in the tutorial. -

Yes! I keep forgetting to take photos of the process as I just get so caught up in the work. I’m starting one this week that I will do my best to document, so I can get that tutorial going. -

I have been using my boots for two years now with no issues. I have done a parade in the rain, walked around Celebration in Orlando for hours, and done several other troops. E6000 works great because of how flexible it is. I can’t speak for the Barge Contact cement as I’ve never used it. -
Great job on the heels!

Sorry for the late response, just saw this post now. I Would say pick up a yard to be safe. You probably will not need an entire yard, but it will be good to have in case you make any mistakes. -

You may be right! I have never seen that photo before. The way they did costumes, some of the boots could’ve had purple thread for all we know lol I’d be fine with switching back to white thread. -
I recommend marine vinyl from Joann fabrics. It’s $19.99/yard, but you can typically find a 50% off coupon on their website. It’s extremely durable and easy to work with.

Congrats!

Looking good! As Chopper stated, the bund looks a little long. We must’ve had a little confusion with the measurements sent for that part. If you need any help with that fix let me know. I would be happy to take care of it for you.

Very! At the time it was under a $100 on amazon so I gave it a shot, but it’s not worth anywhere near that in my opinion. Maybe $40-$50 range for a kid to play with. -

Don’t want anyone to make the same mistake as me! I put some work into it to make it a little better, but ultimately just got rid of it. -

Stay away! That’s the one I bought last year and tried to mod. The stock photo is extremely misleading. This is what it looks like: Its also smaller than an SC helmet to give a rough idea, and it’s tgat awful rubber material. I would not recommend it. -
Tips for sewing straight ribs?
cheesewhoopy replied to Digger's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Soft Parts
Also if you do mark lines, mark them on the inside not the outside. If your settings are right on the sewing machine the stitch will look the same on both sides. Then just trace over your lines with the sewing machine. No one will ever know they are there.
