The RS faceplate is much too soft, even compared to their own auction helmet so they dropped the ball somewhat in my opinion. I still have a EFX LE preorder so I'l see how it turns out before completely giving up on it.

Great to see RS are addressing the issues and delivering really great looking lids . . . this might be worth the arduous wait after all.

If they ever get around to sending me an approval image, the first thing I'l say is my unweathered version should be glossy, not matt white.

Wow over a week after promising to send out emails in their "damage control" post on facebook, they still haven't bothered to do so. This was one of the problems the aggrieved customer had which made him post an angry writeup.

Yeah, as I understand the ones that have gone out already are matt, which is wrong. It's not asking too much at £400 that they paint it correctly.

From their fb post yesterday morning: "I will today have everyone who is waiting updated by email to confirm they still want to be a part of this run of special helmets, or fully refund them." And still no email. This is a big part of the problem with them.

Bet I won't get any email today from them. . . just same old platitudes and delay tactics.

Saw this posted on RS' facebook page, though it may be deleted from there by now. It doesn't fill me with great confidence in them https://www.facebook...64846269&type=3 This quote is very alarming: "6/30/16: Rob emails with what felt like a truly honest and sincere email. Says he has 40 helmets there and none are good, he "would not have them in his own collection"...lucky for the customers getting those...." At least he got a helmet, even if it was poorly made, which is more than I have after paying £410 almost 15 months ago. I've been given the run around too and got pretty fed up with their stalling and false promises but I restrained myself recently from getting a refund. I desperately want an accurate Scout lid but I may just take my chances with my EFX pre-order after all.

I noticed the RS has a narrow rectangular reinforcement piece under the dome while the LW has a much larger disc shaped piece. A larger piece surely adds to its overall strength and sturdiness. Both methods were used on the production helmets so they're both "correct" but one definitely looks stronger than the other.

Yeeh they must have, very poor really. Regretfully I did not pursue it with them since it was just about fixable and the helmet was a raw kit not a finished piece.

My first RS purchase was a Fett helmet kit in 2014. It had a huge chip in the right earpiece but there were no loose pieces in the box, which also had the words "chipped helmet" written on the side! Unbelievable! The Scout is my second purchase from them and it has not been a good experience either. Think I'l go elsewhere in future.

They do look less alike than I had expected. The whole snout area is more prominent and projected forward on the LW and the detail round the eyes is definitely too sharp and well defined. However this detail looks a little too soft in pics I've seen of the RS, compared to the originals. Maybe their source production helmet was just a particularly soft pull way back when. Both great looking lids though.

meh they'l probably take another 6 months just to slap on some decals and finish off wave 2

Nothing RS wrote in that FB post suggested to me they're "almost there". Remember that long email they sent out in January promising better service and completion of these helmets?! Six months later and nothing's changed on my end. These companies, RS, eFX and Anovos have sucked the fun right out of collecting with their excuses and endless delays.

I really don't care to read another meaningless "update" from them, they just need to get them done.

I'm in wave 2 and wondering if they will ever make mine so I wouldn't count on it.

Yeah I read about yours, I was asking about jkno's helmet. Never mind, he won't answer me anyway. Wave 2 should've "entered paint" today according to fb. It took them long enough because I was told that weeks ago.

Did RS just do a poor job of it like Yorkie's or was it damaged in transit?

Congratz on getting it finally. That black paint does look abit untidy but overall it really looks terrific. They did a fantastic job replicating their original, right down to the choice of paint colour. It just looks right. One little detail seems absent though, shouldn't the area behind the ear vents, on the inside of the helmet have a little black material, as the originals? I remember that mentioned about the Sansweet helmet on youtube. Can be seen in this gallery pic of an original too http://forum.bikersc...llery&image=729

The retailer I preordered my LE from hasn't heard anything, it's been so long now. If the RS is as good as it should be I'l be cancelling my eFX helmet.
