Thank you for clarifying that about the balaclava BikerScout007! Don't know why I didn't check on that sooner.

Yes Stasz, I already trimmed some off the bottom of the shoulder bells. Can a little be trimmed off the bicep piece as well if necessary? Regarding the bunching of fabric at the throat, that's the Balaclava. Which leads me to ask if it's supposed to be inside or outside the suit collar?

Thank You Retrofire.

Apparently I can't get pics to post. I'd delete the post if I could and try again.

These are pics from the Scout project I (we) did for my wife. She's short and trying to keep things in proportion was occasionally difficult. Hopefully I've gotten it for the most part. Comments toward improvement welcome.

Belt is now completely assembled. Chest armor is strapped, all arm and leg pieces are strapped. Cummerbund is done, except for codpiece, which has to be redone. Vest is done. Still need to sew on suede thigh patches and butt flap and finish boots.

Thanks guys, she is now convinced. Just needed to hear from someone more knowledgeable on the subject I reckon. Good advice on trimming the sides too!

My wife, being short, has the shoulder bells hanging down where they cover the top of the upper arm piece of armor. I told her the bells should be cut so that there is a space between the bottom of the bell and the upper arm piece. Every pic I see shows this, but she hates the idea of cutting the armor. Help me out here guys, tell her it needs to be shortened. Pic is in my wip thread. Question: when it is cut, is there a regulation spacing from the upper arm piece or is it sufficient that there is a clear gap?

Helmets done ( i think)

My wife doesn't want to cut the shoulder bells. I say they need to be shortened. Opinions?

Thanks MJ! We got busy yesterday and started on the build. My wife is sewing the cummerbund and, as the SC kit came in, I started sanding and trimming pieces. I've assembled the thermal detonator and put the lens in the faceplate. Also started work on the boots. More work to be done today hopefully.

Doing a scout build for my wife. She'll be doing the soft parts and I'll be doing the armor Presently we've acquired a pair of extra small WW gloves, balaclava and a pair of hiking shoes that we think will work for the boots. Also got the white upholstery vinyl for the boots, and white duck fabric for the cummerbund. Full kit ordered from SC. Hopefully we'll be able to start on some sewing today and applying the vinyl to the boots.

Got a pair of extra small gloves from WW. Even at ES the fingers are still a smidge long, but it's no doubt the best that can be done with her small hands. Boots/shoes were a similar problem with size 3 feet, and after driving around for two day we finally found a pair that would fit and look right once covered in the white upholstery vinyl.

My wife is interested in a Biker Scout kit, and since she's the seamstress and I'm the one that generally ends up building things, I'm doing the newb thing of snooping the forums here for intel. Looking forward to seeing what you guys have been doing with your builds and any advice when I get started. Thanks, Tarmac
