  1. Interestingly, the other decals like the tank rank bars have stood up to all weather conditions including several rainstorms So in hindsight I'm thinking it's either the material the topper is made from (resin in my case, I think) or just that it's exposed to more I'd be interested to see how you go after a few outings Sent from my SM-G998B using Tapatalk
  2. I started with the decal provided with my kit Bit it kept peeling off in the heat and humidity we troop in So after a couple of troops I painted it on Haven't looked back since If you are in a cooler low humidity climate, you should be ok with the decal, but if not, be prepared to fix it regularly Just my observation, but felt is worth putting out there Sent from my SM-G998B using Tapatalk
  3. Depending on cost and shipping, I'd be interested Could be a bit of fun [emoji106] Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk
  4. I'm sure there's a post comparing the different helmets Unfortunately, I'm not able to find it right now But I have SC armour and Altmans helmet I love the combo, but I'm a few inches bigger than you (in all directions [emoji16]) Spike sends his helmets already built, and straight out of the box, they are a joy to wear But if you are worried about the size, see if someone locally has one you can compare with Or someone who has both could post pictures to show the comparative size Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk
  5. I second this I've got SC armour and Altmans helmet Both are quite possibly the best things I've spent money on [emoji2] My noggins not too big, but the rest of me is, and I think i get a reasonably balanced look Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk
  6. Frank I've got one of Spike's helmets, and if he hadn't popped up, I'd have suggested him I've had my bucket for around 3 years, been using it for 2, and the only issues I've had are self inflicted Spike has also provided "after sales service" on the resolution of the issues, long after any normal warranty would have expired It's light, balanced and can take a reasonable beating in the course of trooping I've compared it to others, and to be honest, when (if) this one goes to the big forest in the sky, I'll be sourcing another to replace it All photos in my tour of duty are SC armour, Altman helmet Paul Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk
  7. I've got the same set up you have f it armour - SC armour and Altmann's helmet I got pretrimmed from SC, and I found they answered a lot of my questions, the rest were either here, or garrison The hardest thing about doing anything with the armour, when you get it, is the first cut, drill, rivet, file, or whatever you start with I had all that doubt too (So I bought a gunner to practice on [emoji2][emoji1787]) But in all seriousness, once you have made that first move, you will not look back And if you've done the work yourself (or even with help), you'll wear it with a lot more pride than if it's all made for you Good luck and look forward to seeing your troop reports [emoji106] Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk
  8. I haven't gone for lancer - too many crl updates since I got my armour... But for basic approval mine was rejected, and it looked very similar to yours (stitching was mostly hidden, but it did balloon out a little andlook like a pouch) I ended up with just a single layer Hopefully, after the work you've put into it, it will be ok Paul Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk
  9. I think SC do a 1 piece belt now, so that's another option? Then make it to fit But unsure of the time/cost benefit of this Living in Aus means a few weeks to get here, so... Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk
  10. There's another post with a similar question A few of us posted our relative sizes and pictures I can't get to it now, but if you look for it, you'll get a feel for how it will wear on you The best response to that question was to remember the scout is essentially a soft costume, so... 11. Because I'm a bit "bigger", I've found this works for me Suit Cummerbund Knees Boots (with shoe horn assist) vest (when the temp is under 25) Chest/back/shoulders (connected) Belt and thermal det Align everything Biceps Wrist guards Balaclava Gloves Set arm armour correctly, check the rest Helmet Ready for duty... 12. Sorry Its off biker scout armoury Look for pathfinders deployment requests Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk
  13. Hi I think so I'm pretty sure it's visible to all signed up members Its off the main entry to the forums Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk
  14. I'm not near mine right now so can't comment But have a look at the submissions for lancer and see if they have them And if they're called out on it Just an idea Paul Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk
  15. Ok Hopefully you can see this If not, let me know I've given you padding without fans, where the battery box is placed, with fans, with padding and fans, and what the fans look like It took a bit of playing around to get balance and feel right The leads come down the back of the helmet But with the foam and placement, I'm not noticing any weight, or height/sight issues Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk
  16. If I remember tonight I'll post what I have I'm in Canberra in Australia so winter's can be below zero and summers in the high 30s I have a piece of foam used to pack servers in the top of mine, that also covers the battery pack for my fans The fans were made locally and are un-bracketed and I Velcro them to each side, by my cheek in the front This has allowed me to troop in a shed that was near 40c for close to 3 hours non-stop, where the week before I was struggling after an hour in 30c Pvicta Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk
  17. Hi You and I could almost be the same person Except I bet I'm the better looking of the 2 of us [emoji16] I have SC armour, WW flight suit, Altmanns helmet and soft parts and boots from various places If you look at my duty log you'll see what that combo looks like on me, and can make a call one way or the other I too am trying to drop weight, so feel your struggle [emoji106] If you feel you need bigger, reach out to Spike on the forum I'm pretty sure he does a bigger kit Feel free to pm me if you want to Paul pvicta TB 99373 Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk
  18. Hi Mine's SC, and I found it to be great There was some minor tidying up that needed to be done, but nothing serious, and less than 5 minutes overall You do need to cut out some of the holes for the webbing and elastic, but that's pretty easy too I found follow up questions were handled nicely too I can't speak for the helmet, as I have an Altman pvicta
  19. My belt was part of my kit from SC The instructions were to use rivets to attach to the nylon What it didn't say, but I was advised to do, is to use scrap abs (in my case from a TK) as a washer to stop it pulling back through But as suggested, see what others have done, and try to match to your build Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
  20. Or ice [emoji16] Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
  21. I'm going to buck the trend a bit I find up to about 30c no fans needed Above that, hell yeah Over summer I trooper one 34 deg day and needed a break every hour Even just to dry myself I installed fans, next troop in around 36 deg, I lasted 4 hours, and only came in as I was thirsty As the others have said, try without, but... 22. I'm following this with interest I was looking up something similar to this on google the other day, and found there is not a lot out there Paul
