Rhaethe is Gonna Go Zoom Zoom! (Finished Build Pics)
Rhaethe replied to Rhaethe's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout WIP
No worries Barry, I'm more hung up on the fact that I've not caught it after looking at reference photos myself. Although admittedly I spent more time comparing the suit against the CRL as opposed to reference shots since it was already built. Honestly, as long as a process helps me learn things, I am not upset about bumps in the road So, to recap ... Must Do 1 -- Swap pouches -- (Completed) 2 -- Narrow the back tank strips a touch -- (Completed) 3 -- Remember to wear the knees with the riveted side up -- (Completed) 4 -- Remember to tuck in glove's tag if it pops out --- (Completed) Not required for basic but very strongly recommended for useability / accuracy 1 -- Transform 4 rivets into 1 on belt 2 -- Drill holes into helmet instead of stickers. Yes? If that is all I have to worry over, I am pleased. -

Belt rivets are still bugging me now that they were pointed out. Regardless of acceptance, now that I know how to fix rivet holes in plastic, I am going to see if I can go by my friend's house that has a drill press. Will rivet one rivet in the center of the four, then remove the four and fix the holes. The placement and sizing of the shoulder bells and arms and hip flaps and all that are fine, though? -

See! I am excited with myself about the learning something new thing ... BEFORE FIX -- Note the holes in the top and bottom (this was on each side of the belt, not just this side pictured) AFTER FIX -- Yes I know I am wearing it wrong for this pic The rivets are there still, admittedly, but they can stay there for the time being, as it matches all the other rivets thematically. Whenever I get around to going for Lancer, I'll fix them then. -

I have just learned how to fix holes with vinyl backing, super glue, and baking soda I also shifted the lines in ever so slightly, and straightened them up. -

Concerning the multi-rivets on the belt, although I do not see anything on the basic CRL that would preclude it, I can see where it might not look as nice as it could. Since I am not aiming for Pathfinder or Lancer status from the get-go, will painting the rivets on the belt white and being clever with some filler in the two holes work fine? 1. I shall find that. I am assuming that flipping the TD will not work 2. The armor is SC armor. I am not seeing any indentation outside the lines already there. On the picture in the CRL, the lines do not appear to be just outside ... but about an inch or so outside the hump. http://www.501st.com...scout_back.jpeg So I am confused? Edit .... is this better? Before I snip the horizontal lines, that is. -

Oh poop. Looks like the Wampa Wear tag on the inside got flipped upward and was peeking out I will have to remember to check for that. -

That does, help, thank you. I have a question, though. When putting on the knees, I compared against the CRL photo? The narrow part points down or up? Pouches already switched, and I re-took a pic for that. As for the rivets on the belt and the drop box buckle distance, I know that rivets are restricted for second level, but it is not referenced on basic level? Nor is the buckle distance? I do intend, over time, to upgrade, but was looking at basic acceptance for right now I could paint the rivets white on the belt if that will help. Edited to add: I flipped the knees the other way and they feel immensely better and less slouchy. So, now I know how they go on, wonderful -
Allrighty then. As I was first finishing up my research and starting to purchase a few things, I came across a great deal on a finished complete Biker build from a TRULY kind fellow in Maine. We were of very similar size, so I jumped on it. I've done some modifications here and there to better fit the CRL, such as painting the det hose grey, putting inserts into the pouches to make them firm up, etc. I can already tell there are a few straps I need to tighten some more. I know now that the pouches on these pics are backwards. They are velcro'd, so an easy fix next time I put on the costume. The lighting does not show the ribs in the bund, though :/ And SOMEHOW in between me grabbing the pouches and taking the pics, the pouches got dirty. Which is bothersome. But I guess that is a start on weathering? Edited to add --- Fixed the pouches orientation and included a pic of it fixed (also shows bund ribs)

Allrighty then. Whilst in the middle of reading into which helmets / helmet kits might be out there, this quesiton occured to me: Which of the helmets out there might work for a smaller size head? My noggin isn't super small, mind you, at 21.3 inches or so, but is on the smaller side. I do know that some helmets out there for other costumes are larger than others, so was curious if bikerscout helmets are similar in having a small range of sizes. If any of that makes sense
