Rare earth magnets might work also. I've been experimenting using them a lot in place of velcro and so far had great results.

Looking great! Question, are you free handing the camo pattern, or using a stencil?

Zapagap also works great if you need to get snaps glued to armor pieces and you're out of shims. Just make sure you wash it off your fingers quickly or it's a pain to remove, and yes, that is from personal experience.
