Thanks Christian, points much appreciated and I'll get the changes made.

Okay, some progress on my soft armour. Not complete as you can tell from the white stitch guides and pins but here goes:- Black suede butt flap Riding patch Flak vest - the arms are stitched and padded but the photo isn't coming out clear, I'll get some clearer photos to post up Cummerbund - with stitching sorted to only have 5 ridges

Cummerbund and flight suit images. The shoes in the background aren't mine by the way ;-) Still a bit of work on the cummerbund to set the velcro and it's not positioned on me properly in the image.

Cheers Chef. I can make it wider and leave it the same length. What do you reckon another two inches? Sent from my GT-I9295 using Tapatalk

Ok, here's how the butt flap will look using a template of the suede from the jacket I bought. Does that look ok? I can increase the size in one direction only (width OR height) as the panels are only 8.5 inches not the 11" I thought they were.

Update from last week - this weekend has been all about a stormtrooper build so mine's had to take a backseat. Anyway here goes Another question if you don't mind, the suede jacket I bought as a donor for the patches has panels that are only about 13" wide. To use this I'd need to have a join in the butt panel running vertically on the centre point - but covered by the velcro strap of the cummerband. Will this be acceptable?

I was considering getting the dremel on the stitch detail but might just wait until I see something a bit better. Thanks for the input. I'm on a slow build time with this cos I've got a TK build for my missus that's being run alongside and my daughter has decided she wants to be a snow trooper so I imagine that'll slow mine down even further

Out of curiosity do these boots look okay as a base? Boots

Update on progress. I've cut the ear holes and carried on putting the final pieces of the helmet together, you were all right and I had to re-painted the gloss black in satin (well I didn't paint it cos I'd have ended up with the wobbliest of lines ever) and fixed the greeblie. Painted the inside in black and added the helmet pads. I need to smooth the ears a bit more as the photos show how rough they are. They don't look quite as bad in real life. I've got my flight suit under way but struggling to find somewhere that stocks real suede. A big thank you to Jeff at Studio Creations who offered to send me a chin cup foc if I was in the US. Unfortunately I aren't so he's only charging the cost of postage. I also made a start on the belt and thermal detonator but put it to one side for now until I can concentrate on it a bit more. Any suggestions for fixing the ends on the corrugated tube cos my glue doesn't seem to like sticking to the tube itself?

Hi all, I've had my SC armour and helmet delivered this morning and after reading the instructions decided to make a start on the helmet. I've kept exactly to the instructions and got part way through - with some help from my missus with the painting - and decided to take a step back at this point before I get too far. The ears are decals. I'm unsure about whether to leave these or cut them out, what's the normal protocol? I've still got to drill the hole for the greeblie and fix it in place when the paint's dried, and add the nose detail. Do the eyes look good enough or should I cut and/or sand some more? Finally some interior shots showing the detail for fixing the glass, I'm still a bit unsure about this detail and toying with the idea of shaping the glass and glueing. Suggestions? Thanks, Steve
