"Maybe this site isn't for me". Well thanks for the suggestion, but I am very cacaple of deciding whether or not is is or isn't. Some of you boys in here get riled up awful quickly. You need to settle down a bit. Take a chill pill or something. Lol. It mainly comes down to the way this site is setup. Not too user friendly in my opinion, but no need to get all up in arms about it. After you have your Scout costume built, there is really no reason to go on here for anything unless you are answering peoples questions and that's what the admins and searches are for. This is mainly for help with your build. Not signing up for trooping w/ the 501st. End of converation. No need to reply. (Unless you want to start something that doesn't need to be started). SO don't.

Yeah, I've already been to those links bro. They are no good. It just says "Oops, the page you are looking for no longer exists." Some of the search threads in here are no good also. HOWEVER: I already found and ordered some from another place. A guy contacted me from my Garrison (Great Lakes Garrison) and helped me out. I would've thought this was gonna be the place instead of my Garrison site, go figure. Lol.

WELL: I purchased the pin-striping and the white nylon pieces that I needed. The only problemn I have now is where to fing Greeblies. Someone posted a link to Trooper Bay or something like that, but when you click on the link, there aren't any Greeblies on the page. Onlyt decals for the tank helmet. Also I searched E-BAY eith no luck either. So basically I have no idea where to get them from now. Mine weren't included with my armor like most of of your's were I'm sure...

When I looked on the 501st Scout Trooper Costumer Reference: Under CHEST ARMOR, it says: "The chest and back armor join together over the shoulder and the gap covered with a loop of white fabric." It does NOT however say what the SIZE of the piece is. It also says for Lancer: "Shoulder bridge straps, attaching the front and back of the armor, are made of white cotton webbing. Not Nylon. So I just need to know how large the piece of white cotten webbing is supposed to be. (This is why details annoy me). LOL. ALSO: For the pinstriping, on the same page under BACK ARMOR, it says: "The tank has a black stripe detail." Wow. Such specific details. How about how wide the striping is supposed to be?!!? You think we can tell that from a picture? C'mon now. I'm just saying: they want all the little details, but yet they don't want to give details about the details. Are we just suppoised to guess? Does it even matter how wide the striping is? I'm pretty sure it does. The last thing I need are the GREEBLIES on the Thermal Detonator. Is there a recommended site to purchase them from or should I just google them and see what comes up?!?
-
Right on. Thanks for the input. Like I said I was just pretty muched peeved and was ranting a bit. I finally have time now to search out the little detail parts I need. I just needed to know the size (width) of the pinstriping and also how to attach the piece of white material between the front and back armor.

"MOD EDIT TO REMOVE INAPPROPRIATE LANGUAGE" I already posted on here, but whatever I feel like ranting. The whole point of buying my armor kit and paying EXTRA for them (KS) to assebmle it and make it properly was so that I didn't have to run around and do the little extra things myself. Now I have to go run around and search for some black pin-striping along with some white material for the gap between the front and back armor pieces. Not to mention the "greeblies" on the TD. What a bunch of rubbish for them to advertise like that and then not follow through 100 % exactly. I told them 501st approval needed, no questions asked. They had the ability to look up the standatrds and see the pieces they missed. Now I probably won't get around to submitting new approval pics til sometime in July. What a bunch of rubbish. I acyually don't really care, because the next troop I want to do isn't until the middle of September anyhow, so I'm in no rush. Just a little annoyed ADVICE TO ALL SCOUT WANNABEES: #1: Make sure you REALLY wanna be a Scout because some of the standards are just plain ridiculous. (I chose it becuase it was always my fav from ROTJ and also it's more comfortable than most costumes). #2: MAKE SURE WHEN YOU BUY YOUR ARMOR KIT THAT IT HAS ALL THE DETAILS AND I DO MEAN ALL OF THE DETAILS. I will tell you right now (KS) is NOT accurate without some minor additions and they also take a LONG TIME to ship. So buyer beware. They're helmets are also a bit Large and their Pouches are enormous.

Hey all. So I submitted my 501st approval pics but came up a little short. Apparently the company I bought from (KS) DOES NOT include the "greeblies" on the thermal detonator nor does it include the black pin striping on the back armor piece along with the piece of white material that connects the front and back armor pieces at the shoulder area. So those three things prevented me from being approved. Easily fixable but I have a question on where to get the pin striping? I guess I can get the piece of white material from Jo-Ann's fabric or something but how big is it and how does it attach? Also I saw a thread on here with a link to "3D printable Greeblies" for the thermal detonator. I think I might order one of those but also not sure how they attach. Any info would be appreciated.

My kit mis missing the Greeblies on the Detonator so this is great. Do I just order them from that link and they'll send them to me? Also how do they attatch? Glue? Or do they stick or what? Any info would be appreciated.

Help with Rivets for holster on boot
matt8199 replied to matt8199's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Soft Parts
I didn't understand how rivets worked, then I watched a quick you tube video (thank god for you-tube, LOL). Now I know the long metal rod part comes off. LOL. I think I have it figured out now - I'm following some tutorials on here. I'm just slightly afraid of attempting it myself, but I'm going to try and practice on something else similar and then have a go at it. -
Help with Rivets for holster on boot
matt8199 replied to matt8199's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Soft Parts
Also, the Rivets look WAY too long. Don't they stick out too far inside your boot?!? I was told 1/4" was correct size. I'm confused now man. I don't want to attempt it if I'm not 100%. -
Ok, so I have everything done EXCEPT attatching the holster. I have the Rivets (Stanley 1/4") and also the Rivet Tool (from Home Depot). I viewed some of the tutorials on here, but it still makes me nervous to try it myself. There's all this extra stuff about adding more material and velcro on the inside... a whole lot more than I thought and I'm not sure I can do this myself now without messing up somehow. I can't afford new boots or wait for another holster. I need this done by Saturday. I planned to do it today or tommorow. I don't even know if I have a drill bit to make the hoiles. They should have been drilled already.

Actually now that I think about it: wouldn't you attach the Velco to the VEST since that would be going over the top of the flightsuit anyways? I think that would be correct...
-
This may have been addressed in here somewhere, but I couldn't find it, SO: I was wondering if anyone went as far as to attach VELCRO to the shoulder areas of your flightsuit so that the Shoulder Armor pieces stay put? I assume this wouldn't be too hard and it looks like the shoulder pieces move around a bit too much... Just wondering if anyone has had that problem and used Velcro to fix it? (Since she's doing my vest and flightsuit, it'd rel easy for her to add Velcro in that area.
-
UPDATE: I had a small setback. I realized my REDKAP flightsuit was actually a bit small and tight on me SO, I decided to order another one (this time I went with a 40 LONG instead of a reg 40). Now I'm having a lady modify it (take off pockets, add patches and buttflap). That same lady is ALSO doing my VEST. Next I'm attaching my holster with rivets I have yet to purchase (but will do so soon). After that: I should be all done! It's just a matter of trying everything on and makeing sure it all fits properly and everything looks good and in the correct place. Can't wait to finish up and send my approval pics. Should be happening sometime in early May.

Thanks for all the input. I love the you tube video. A lot more of it makes sense now. However, my forarms are only attatched with the elastic band on one sode of the armor and not the other. I think it came off somehow. Not sure how to fix that but I will have to try I guess.. LOL. Now just have to find some rivets or whatever to attatch my holster. (next up)
