  1. Hey Everyone. With lots of help from these forums and members I am just about finished with my scout. It is VERY rewarding to be at this point! I hope it is okay I am posting this in this forum as there are still a few things left to finish before I apply, but I want to make sure I am not missing anything. Below are some pictures from my first time suiting up with nearly everything on, what an amazing feeling. BTW - I am not going for Lancer. Here is the current list of items that I still need or need to do: -Attach holster to boot -Flak vest (making it myself) -balaclava -paint the soles of the boots -sew chevron into diaper -actually attach the pouches (they are just pinned on right now) -build better attachment for TD -add velcro to kneepads, shoulder pads, behind cummerbund (on the suit) -need to buy a case to transport everything Helmet: NI Armor: SC Boots: selfmade Cummerbund/pouches: selfmade Flight Suit: Red Kap coverall w/ real suede in crotch and butt flap Gloves: Wampa Probably a lot of other things I'm not thinking about, please share if you see anything! I can't wait to get this finished and start trooping with you guys (and girls)!
  2. I saw those belt clips for sale online. I'm guessing you are using them for the thermal detonator? How did they work out for you? Did you buy them at a local store?
  3. Has anyone tried this yet? I will be attempting it either this week or next.
  4. What are you filling it in with?
  5. Getting new belt pieces shipped out next week. Jeff is the bomb. Definitely not doing Panda's method again as I have a heavy hand with the heat gun. I will try sanding + gluing and if that doesn't feel strong enough then I will add some white rivets.
  6. Ace had their own brand of them, didn't check lowes.
  7. I tried Panda's method tonight and just about ruined my center belt piece. Even the side piece is so warped now that it won't get a clean level bond with the center piece. I will likely have to replace both pieces. I'm so furious right now. í ½í¸¤
  8. I was on that isle in Home Depot for awhile and couldn't find any. None listed on their website either. I'll try again at some other hardware stores, maybe Ace and Lowes.
  9. Did you guys find backing washers at any local stores? I tried Home Depot, but the only washer with a 1/8th inside diameter had too large of an outside diameter. I don't want to wait for an online order and pay for shipping on a $2 bag of washers.
  10. Thanks, I was planning on using that method.
  11. You guys prefer gorilla glue over e6000?
  12. I just received my SC armor in the mail and was wondering if anyone has had any issues trooping with their three piece belt glued together? I feel like rivets would be more durable and I would have less to worry about (I'm not going for Lancer). The last thing I want at an event is my belt coming apart..
  13. I went with the Dexter work boots from Payless. After trying on and touching the Target and Walmart shoes I felt these had a better shape and felt more solid with comfort. I'll just need to paint the soles with acrylic paint. I bought the flat shoe laces as the ones that came with them were round:
  14. Chunk, How did the painting hold up?
  15. Thanks guys. I will check Walmart for the Brahma boots. Marcel - If you have a good recommendation from ebay can you share?
  16. I can't seem to find any with one solid color.
  17. I found these at Target, they are Mossimo boots. It seems like there is a good enough space between the laces and the front of the boot. The sole will need to be painted though. Let me know what you think or if I should look at others. http://www.target.co...term=mens+boots
  18. Sounds good, I will try those first!
  19. Are there local big box stores that would have the elastic bands and/or suede? If not, then I will go here for the suede: http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/en-usd/search/searchresults/9122-21.aspx Not sure where to get the elastic online. Also, I removed the 4 pockets on the Red Kap Coveralls, but there appears to be a couple small pockets on the leg (I assume for a hammer?). Did you guys remove these as well? It looks tough as it is sewn into the main leg seam.
  20. Hi everyone, I just got my red cap suit in and it feels a bit baggy. Did washing shrink it at all? I will try to post pics next week (going out of town to propose to my girlfriend!) FYI I bought it from Automotive Workwear with ground shipping on Tuesday. Today (Thursday) it was here at my house in Atlanta GA. Fast!
