SC is great armor and the maker was great to deal with! I have that kit myself. The SC helmet runs a little on the small side. I went with an Altmann's helmet as it is a little bigger. WTF armor also looks pretty nice but I don't have any first-hand experience with it so it would be better if someone else chime in regarding WTF. I would avoid KS as, last I heard, their molds are deteriorating and have not been updated so you would end up with wonky pulls and outdated armor features. I hope this helps. Good luck on your build! Jamie

Oops it looks like the link above is sending people to the previously-approved Lancer: Aaron TB-41394 (Cheesewhoppy). (Aaron's build looks great too ) Jamie

It looks like there is more than enough precedent for it. Thanks for bringing this up! Jamie

Jumpsuit tutorial / riding patches template ?
Pale Rider replied to drache's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout HQ
I found it helpful to do a masking tape pattern on the suit itself after getting a handle on how the patches are supposed to look front and back. To do this you would need to be wearing your jumpsuit and you need the help of someone who is comfortable putting masking tape in that region. We layered masking tape on the area front and back, traced with a sharpie the outline of the riding patches, peeled the tape off carefully in one piece, then laid it flat to pull a pattern off of it. Once the pattern was laid flat I used an old t-shirt to use a a test template. I cut it out in the shape of the sharpie outline from the pattern then pinned it on to the jumpsuit to see if it would look right. I did this so I wasn't taking a risk with suede the first time out. This ended up working really well for me. I kind of approached this like TK ears where the outline or pre-determined pattern doesn't work for all helmets (does it work for any of them ) so I came up with the pattern for my body and my jumpsuit. I hope this is clear enough to be helpful. Jamie -
I put fans in my Scout bucket as I was experiencing some fogging of the lenses. While there isn't as much room in the Scout bucket as the TK it can be done. I had to put the fans hear my temples as that was pretty much the only place I could put them after trying a few different spots. The downside to this is it will decrease your ability to hear things. I can still hear but not as well as I can in my TK. I had to place the battery box at the base of my skull in the very back where the "tube" run around the back. I went with this setup as I didn't have the time to wire up some fans myself: http://www.501st.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=91141 I hope this helps. Jamie

I came here looking for this info myself about the color of the knee rivets. As long as they are supposed to be white and the 501st site is just lagging getting their info updated based on what the consensus is here I'm happy. Jamie

Redkap/Amazon.com unfortunately does not ship to Canada. Amazon.ca does not stock the Redkap suit. I ended up getting a Wampa Wear suit and paid for the shipping. Alternatively you can always rent a PO box if you are close to the border.

Riding Patch - The bane of my existence! >.<
Pale Rider replied to Ketchup's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout HQ
I'm dreading this part of the build. Hopefully having a pattern will help. Jamie -
Hi all, I started work on my flak vest and got a little paranoid as the length of the sleeves on the flak vest all depend on shoulder bell placement. With that in mind I want to make sure my shoulder bells are placed properly before I cut the flak vest sleeves to the proper length. Is there a good rule for how far away from the chest-to-back shoulder bridge the shoulder bells should be? How much black should be showing? All of the screen shots from the movie I've been over look like it's about 1 - 1.5 inches. Does that seem about right? Hopefully this makes sense. Jamie

After about an hour of searching the forums I haven't found any information regarding the three vertical bars on the helmet forehead. I have an Altmann helmet and the three vertical bars are thin and black. I've seen multiple buckets with thicker grey bars in build threads here. From re-examining ROTJ scenes it looks like the thicker grey bars are correct but this does not seem to be specified anywhere in the CRL or on this site. Please help clarify this for me. Jamie

Coverall options - your recommendations on these two?
Pale Rider replied to Pale Rider's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout HQ
I've only looked at them for gloves. I didn't think to check them out for coveralls. Thanks for the heads up! Jamie -
Hi guys! I'm still trying to source a coverall/racing suit. Redkap seems to be the way to go judging from my research here but they don't ship to Canada unfortunately. Short of renting an American PO Box and making the drive (which is not out of the question) I've come across these two options on Ebay: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Portwest-Liverpool-Zip-Coverall-Work-Wear-Overalls-/191373842335?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2&var=490490245413&hash=item2c8ec5179f http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Blue-Castle-HEAVY-DUTY-240GSM-ZIP-FRONTED-Cotton-COVERALLS-Overalls-BOILER-SUIT-/251419504421?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var=550339203108&hash=item3a89c52f25 Could I get your feedback on these? I know I would have to remove any pockets that are present. Would either of these be a good alternative to the Redkap coveralls? Thank you in advance! Jamie
