So there was some time ago... I think around a year or so, where I was looking at pics of the movie Biker Scout, and started noticing that the white soft parts looked like they were made of a glossy fabric that matched the hard armor. Has anyone else noticed this? All the replicas I've seen always been made from matte fabrics (at least for the exterior side), including my own. I actually entertained the idea of buying some glossy fabric and get a 'bund made from it to see how it looks. What do you guys think? Would glossy cummerbunds pair better with the armor for the Biker Scout? Is it even accurate to the movie production costumes? Let me know!

I just might get in on this. Don't care for the blaster (I already got one), but I'm needing a new holster for my CrowProps boots.

Where did they find that?!

Reminds me how I'd like to carry an E-11 with my RotJ Biker Scout. While they aren't seen using them at all and I doubt I'd have full permission to use one at a troop, but I like the image of Scouts holding an E-11! I'd do a photoshoot with one if given the chance. An RotJ version of the weapon would be the most logical choice, but I like the ANH version, too. Heck, maybe I'll get both for my personal collection!

Where was that from?

Reusing holster on new boots?

Kinda wish this thread was started before I went and removed my holster. Now I have to get a new one. -
I think I found the best wire for the TD tube
FoxTrooper replied to FoxTrooper's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Yeah, I figured the rounded cord was a bit off from the original, but it was better than the flat cords I've also seen. My end result with the round cords didn't look bad, either. Speaking of which, I should upload a picture or two. -
So I was one to take up making a wire-wrapped Thermal Detonator tube (just like the movie costume), but one thing that always made it difficult was finding the right wire to use for the project. I've tried painting the wires on a couple prototypes, but the look just didn't work. I searched high and low for a wire/cable/cord/whatever that came in gray-beige (as supposedly that's the proper color the TD tubes were). Even just wires in regular grey was difficult. Then finally at some point I something on a surplus electronic parts store. Lo and behold, surplus wires in gray-beige! These look like they could be replacement wires for old telephones or something, as they're in a coiled fashion. I found that the coiled nature kinda helps you wrap it around the tube when making the Scouts thermal detonator (and without glue, too). Anyways, I bought a couple from them and made my tube. Good news is that it looks great! Bad news is that wires are too short to wrap the tube properly. The wires come in a length of about 3 or so inches (retracted) so you'll have to get at least 3 or 4 of these cords and find a way to make it look seamless when using these for your own TD tube. The listing I found was this: https://www.electronicsurplus.com/5-395-5-26-sh-coiled-cord-gray-stretches-to-5-feet I was pretty nervous about recommending a product here (especially when sounding like I'm gushing about it), but I've seen comments recommending certain things before, so why not? I really do think that these wires are absolutely great! They pretty much satisfied my desires and ended my search for the perfect wire for my TD by coming in such a great color to match the original Biker Scouts and their own TDs. These cords are actually on clearance, now, so I guess you'll be getting them at a decent price. Their stock is limited, too, I should forewarn. IDK how many of us will actually get in on this, but I do entertain the idea that I made the their stock drain after telling you guys about those wires! =p Well that's all I got for now, so have a good day, Pathfinders!

I've had the idea on my mind for a while, but thought to get some feedback from this community, in case my idea is ultimately a bad one. As the title goes, I've thought about using real wiring for the harness system. It won't power anything electronic, as I've got nothing on that. I've found some red replacement power cord for cheap (and on sale) while looking through an online surplus electronics store (where I also found grey coiled wires for the thermal detonator). Might look a bit more realistic, but I fear it could pose an issue or two, as well. Also, I should bring up the color choice. I know the CRL calls for a more orange-red colored cord, but they always looked closer to pure red to me when looking at the videos and screenshots. Furthermore, pure red just looks better to me, anyway.

Funny, what made them decide to gloss up their helmets? My own Red Label Scout helmet from RS is in matte paint, so the new direction must have been made at some point between then and now.

Crow Props Biker Boots and Gloves are in
FoxTrooper replied to troygordon2's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Soft Parts
I got in on this project, too. Just recently got my boots and gloves, myself. I personally felt the trunks of the boots were hastily attached to the shoes. They just look kinda sloppy-looking. Luckily, that looks like something that can bee modifiied, myself, to make the boots look more sleek and clean-looking. I'm a bit of a neat freak. Other than that, I'd say he did a good job with the boots, and I'm very happy somebody came out with replicas of the Hi-Tec soles! CrowProps just may have raised the bar in Scout costume building!- 16 replies

You can look through Amazon or strapworks.com. I like the latter because you can get the elastic and webbing you need for cheap and get as many feet of it as you need! I could have saved a bit of money with them.

What's the difference between "Inter" and "Hi-Tec"? -
How many scouts have made the wire-wrapped tubes? Is it possible to commission one? If I can't commission one, what parts do I need to build one, myself?
-
I'm actually interested in this build going forward with the gaps. So is the grill detail suppose to be a piece attached to the underside of the mask?
