  1. Hello, all! In the interest of finishing off my scout, I've been looking into getting a resin prop blaster when I came across these instructions on the Legion page: http://www.501st.com.../Weapons_policy " Being a global organization, our members are subject to a wide variety of local and regional regulations regarding replica weapons/props. In an effort to be sensitive to these requirements, the 501st has adopted a policy that weapons/props (including light sabers) are not required for membership. This ensures that all troopers will be viewed equally, regardless of regional regulations. We encourage all members to be aware of their local regulations and, if legal to do so, carry an accurate prop for the characters they represent." Does anyone know of any special costuming regulations regarding props?
  2. That's not a bad idea, Rookie.
  3. Yeah, there's Velcro on the back of the boot... I was talking about the shoe itself tho. I loosened the laces as much as I could but it still takes me like 5 minutes to wriggle my foot in there.
  4. Hey again! Just got a nice pair of boots finished off by Robbie and I'm trying to break them in. I found out that getting in and out of the shoe itself is a bit of a challenge since I don't want to rip/tear any of the vinyl (and there's no pull tab on the heel for an easy way to get my feet in!). Does anyone have any pics of slots they but into the back of their boots for as easier time slipping their feet in and out? How do you seal the slot... with ties or zipper?
  5. Wow, that's pretty cool. Did you use a stencil for the text or is that freehand? The Fett one is pretty awesome too! I love that your tote has wheels, Death Recon! I'm definitely checking out Home Depot after I get my armor.
  6. No worries. The toughest critics are always ourselves. As long as you're happy with the final product. Everyone I've talked to on the forums will give you constructive criticism to help but never to put you down. At least you're finished with your boots; I'm wussing out on mine... bought the boots and material and resized the laces and I haven't done a thing with them yet. Do or do not... so far I have not
  7. Gentle with the critiquing? I don't know what you were worried about... they look awesome!
  8. One last question about the MLC v.3... any modding need to be done to this? Like the fish-hook decal or the snout. I know there's some snout pieces on sale and I'm not sure which ones are the "right" snout pieces since there are different versions.
  9. Dankelzaga... did you have any issues like Elwyn5150 had buying it finished? If this is the case, I might had to just build it myself. That way, if something falls off or explodes, I won't be so pissed that I paid someone extra money to assemble it for me.
  10. Also, how is the MLC bucket size wise? I heard SC can be a bit snug. It's possible I may have to wear glasses underneath.
  11. I'm getting ready to buy my armor and bucket and actually decided on SC until they decided they're no longer selling the finished scout helmets... only the DIY version (I'm not lazy, just don't have a lot of time on my hands). Now I'm looking at MC as an option and emailed them asking what the inside of their finished MLC buckets look like but have not yet heard back from them. I ask because someone posted the inside of an SC 'finished' bucket and the padding looked very comfortable and easy to get on/off one's head. Other versions I've seen on the forums have the 'constuction worker' plastic headband. Long story short, can someone explain to me and/or post a pic of what the MC bucket (which, I guess, would be the finished MLC) looks like on the inside? Does it come with padding or the construction worker headband?
  12. Is this bund/pouch set ok for approval? It has the 7 vertical stitches, but I'm not sure how the "tapered crotch with inverted curve sewn in detail and sits between the legs and connects to the back of the cummerbund by a 50mm black elastic strap" is supposed to look. http://www.mg501.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10019/ourbund07sm.jpg Also, what's your thoughts about this flightsuit? It doesn't have the suede crotch or back panel (I'd have to sew that), but are the number of pockets and the rest ok? It seems to me more of like a rebel trooper kind of flightsuit. http://www.mg501.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10019/Our_final_flightsuit_03asmall.jpg http://www.mg501.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10019/Our_final_flightsuit_05asmall.jpg http://www.mg501.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10019/Our_final_flightsuit_09small.jpg http://www.mg501.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10019/Our_final_flightsuit_13asmall.jpg Is this even accurate? I don't even know what this is for. http://www.mg501.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10019/Our_final_flightsuit_08asmall.jpg
  13. What do you mean, Donovan? There's no black on the heel. You mean the black part on top?
  14. Looks good. Thanks for the pics!
  15. I just picked my boots: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Brahma-Women-s-Caraway-Work-Boots/21683080 Are these (pre-vinyl of course) acceptable? Tan soles (no two colors) and no stitching around the sides of the tan base (there's crimping, but no stitching). Plus they were only $20! What do you guys think?
  16. Thanks for the input. I just picked up this one from Under Armor: http://northernoutlet.com/underarmourbalaclavablack.aspx Is this acceptable? And how do I get the UA logo off of the forehead? It seems like an iron-on decal over the polyester shell. If it cannot be removed, is it acceptable to iron on an imperial cog over it?
  17. I don't know if I spelled that right, but I'm wondering where I can find an open-faced balaclava. The ones I've seen all have an open oval for the eyes but the nose and mouth are covered up.
  18. Hey, nice job! Where did you find your balaclava (head sock), though? I can only seem to find the ones that only show the eyes instead of the face.
  19. Thanks for the feedback, guys. Pandatrooper, that's a good idea about the slide lock... It's worth a try.
  20. Getting my trooper pieces together and debated if I should buy or make my boots. I figured I'd at least buy the shoes, give it a go, and see what happens. When you guys are putting the vinyl over the boots, do you take out the laces first? Would it not look weird with the laces in under the vinyl? How do you slip your foot in and out of the boot base without untying and retying the laces? If you put the vinyl over the boots with the laces loose (or no laces at all), how would your foot not slip out when walking?
