  1. Thanks all for your help. I attached the bone with the curve down and they turned out great. I have finished my boots for now (no notches cut) since my original plan was to have things ready for halloween. With the bone in place and glued Holster attached back of the boot showing velcro closure Test fit to see how knee armor looks Looking at the last picture I realized that my left boot is just slightly taller than the right. I'm blaming the holster weighing things down I'm very pleased with how they turned out, I've never done anything like this before and halfway through the process I was ready to chuck them.
  2. So, I've been following the boot tutorial and have everything done except for the bone across the gap. What I was wondering is if there is a "proper" direction for the piece? Is it possible to put it on upside down? For my boots, the way that it fits the best the curve is at the top, but it seems like maybe that was supposed to be at the bottom. Any help on this?
  3. Awesome, thanks. I'll pull out the hair dryer tonight and give it a good stretch.
  4. Finally stopped procrastinating the boots. Had some questions for the experts. Do I need to use a heat gun/dryer on these? I got this far with just stretching and it looks pretty good. Didn't know if I could go straight to glueing or if I should heat and stretch some more.
  5. Thanks. I didn't want to go cutting things if I wasn't supposed to. And actually just found the lancer requirements which spelled it out.
  6. I just got my SC armor and am going through everything and making sure I have everything lined up before starting (and messing something up ) Anyway, I noticed that it came with 2 inch white elastic to use for attaching the chest and the back, but the slot cut in both pieces seem to be closer to 1.5 inches. So, do I need to cut larger slots, or do I need to find smaller elastic? Thanks
  7. Thanks for the info! I just found your immensely helpful build thread where you mentioned using the pop rivets. Sure can't wait for my armor to come in, the wait is killing me.
  8. Can someone help me sort out all this rivet stuff? I've never dealt with them before and I'm not even sure where to get them. Is this something that I just pick up at the local hardware store (Lowes/ Home Depot), or a a craft store (Michaels, AC Moore)? I've seen lots of discussions over at FISD about split rivets and pop rivets and other stuff like that, what is best, what is needed, what in the world am I supposed to be doing? ") Thanks
