So I'm looking at the OMP and the new version has knee pads. Did the older version have these?
-
That looks like the best way to go I suppose. It appears that the Speedways are discontinued, and those Redkaps look a bit baggy, at least to me. I think I might go with the OMP racing suit and mod that.

So how does the approval process work for 501st? Would I be able to ask the judge who would be making the determination? At this point I'm only going for standard clearance, but may upgrade to Lancer later.

I'm sure you all know where this comes from, but I'll be circumspect about it. (LOL - watermarks anyone?) Anyway, my question is would this undersuit be approvable? I really like the fact that the flak vest is "built in" - I know it's not canon, but when suited up you can't tell, and that's all that counts as far as I'm concerned. I'd rather have my costume be practical than exact, especially if you can't tell the difference.

Can't wait to see more. Hopefully if you do offer this up as a kit, shipping to the USA isn't too much.

Now that's something you should have him machine up a few of!

Nice - I'll be watching this one as I will be doing my own scratch built DC 15x as well, once I get my armor done. I'll be especially interested in seeing how you do the flash hider. My build probably won't be as good as yours as I am going strictly with stuff from the hardware store like PVC\plywood\aluminum, but I'm sure seeing yours progress will help me along. I've just started to wander the aisles looking for ideas...

Been checking out the prices of leather and I decided to just go with vinyl. It was an easy sell since I had a 50% off coupon, bringing the cost of a yard of vinyl down to $9. Oh well, I have enough to make a few pairs if it wears out. Now I'm just hangin the vinyl up in the garage to off-gas some of the smell before I use it.

Being a Biker Scout n00b take my advice with a grain of salt, but I would recommend perhaps some foam padding on the bottom part of the knee pads so they don't point down so much. Or maybe it just requires that you move them up a bit?

That's good stuff. I use it to polish up all my arcade plexiglass and remove 20 - 30 year old scratches. You can also get it at boat supply stores, and of course eBay.

Just got these beauties in the mail: Their true size is definitely about a half size larger than what is listed. I'm an 11.5, and these are listed as size 11. They fit perfectly. They are quite possibly the most comfortable boot I have ever owned. Once this costume is complete, I'm only going to want to troop as a Biker Scout! The first step will be to mark the soles for cutting, time to start checking out screen shots. One question about building up the boot; would white leather be accpetable for Lancer? I positively hate vinyl and would much prefer to build my boot with leather instead. Leather lasts longer and wears much better in my opinion...

That looks great - I'll be starting my boots soon. One question; I see the OP used Goop glue. I already have a tube of E6000 - would that be ok? ** Edit ** And then I read a few threads down, apparently it is...

Are there any tutorials still out there for building a DLT-19 from scratch? I've done a bunch of searching, and only seem to come up dead links. I did find a few jpg files with some of the pieces, but cannot seem to find the actual tutorial that goes along with them.

Try scuffing the plastic with some sandpaper and then wipe off the residue with a damp cloth before gluing...

Pandatrooper's SC Biker Scout build
Havok69 replied to Pandatrooper's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
That's a great idea. How's the gap between the joined pieces - do you plan to fill it with something, or does it look good enough to leave it the way it is? -
Not yet - I have to do this one slow and steady; save up first, then purchase as I go. I think I'm going to start on the boots first. Those Lugz from another thread here look good so I'll buy a set and get the vinyl, etc and put them together. I'll be making sure to do each piece to Lancer specs. After pouring over all the threads here, makes me wish I had done this costume first instead of my Han Solo one I just finished!

Jealous! Your stuff all looks great. I can't wait to get started on my TB...

Looks great - I think I'm going to pick up a pair of these. Do you think the top two eyelet hooks are going to cause any problems with the vinyl, like bulging out too much?

Some great tips in this thread - thanks for the great information, it will be very helpful when I get to building my set. -
SC Scout Helmet Prototype 2012 - feedback?
Havok69 replied to StudioCreations's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
I'm thinking I want to get one of these helmets, I look forward to some feedback. One thing about the head size; I completely don't know what would be considered a small\medium\large head. What are some general measurement ranges that would work with this helmet?
