Question on Altmann's Helmet
madmann883 replied to Canterbury Tail's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
How do I can I get in touch with Altmann to get his helmet? -
I have removed all the pockets, kept the scraps for the collar. Also, I got the swuede for the riding patches and butt flap. I hope to post some pics soon. Plan on getting some work done after Christmas.

I will be honest, the first bucket I received from KS was not up to standard. The plastic was pulled unevenly, and the visor was even bent from where they pulled it off the mold. I emailed KS right away and got a quick responce. I received a replacement helmet with in a week. Oh my it is beautiful! The plastic is even all around and the pull was great! I recommend them hands down. They are quick to respond and, overall, I have had a postive experience with them.

I know that you can seal the nylon of the belt strap with heat. But, experience with my Republic Commando has show that, even sealed, Nylon can still rip. I was just wondering if my TB would be approved with a full nylon belt and snapping or velcroing on the blastic belt to the front of the nylon belt.

I have a question with the belt. I know the SC armor tells you to rivet or bolt on the belt strap to the end of the plastic for the belt. I have seen, though, that where the belt is contected to the plastic peice, it usually tears and breaks. I had the idea to make a belt completely out of the straping and then, with either snaps or velcro, connect the plastic detail onto the fabric belt, similar to a TK. Would this be approvable?

I don't think I want to use an actual tee shirt as part of the flak vest... I do like the idea of cutting off the sleaves and using them for the pattern.

Hey everyone! I am going to use this thread for my soft parts build. I am, hopefully, going to have detailed pictures/instructions on how to modify the RedCap Twill coveralls. I will also include details on how I build my cummerbund and flak vest. I have a few questions to start. I know that the cummberbund is made out of duck cloth, but what kind of fabric is used for the flak vest? I found cucblack's thread, and he mentioned bull,100% cotton. I am not able to find the material online. To me, it looks like it should be made from twill. Any help with this would be greatly appriciated. I will update this thread as work begins.

I am planing to order all of the Don Jarr greeblies this Friday! Can't wait to get these bad boys. Before I start the armor, I plan on getting atleast the undersuit and flak vest finished.

Well, I just got my armor in. I cannot wait to start building this one! The biker scout was always my favorite costume. It's an SC kit. The grey pipe for the TD was backordered, so That will come later. Here are some pictures:

I ordered the jumpsuit this weekend. Looking forward to receiving it.

I went with SC over KS because it looked to be of better quality. You are the same size as me, so it looks like it was a good choice. It's a good price as well.

Oh gosh, Barry... I am so sorry I didn't respond. That was my fault. Please forgive me. I forgot you emailed me. The good news is that we have the answer, and now both of us can move forward.

Hmm... that's a good idea. I will let my prospective members know about that one. I was under the impression that you would need to remove those as well. Well I am going to order the suit on Monday. Once I get some time, I will start modifing it.

Thanks Jim! You are the man by the way! What did you do with the pockets on the side, though? Did you just remove them and sew the holes closed? Can you email me pictures of the neck on your jumpsuit so I have a reference picture?
