  1. Okay made a pattern, but I have another dumb question that probably very obvious. But here it goes when measuring out the pocket is it 7"X5" only the face or counting the 1"depth? I know stupid question as I made a pattern in illustrator for both as here the original one I did that is the 5" inches in total, 3" is the face of pocket then 1" on either side of it. and a 6" face with a 1" for depth As here the other one I did after thinking to myself wait do they only mean the face measurements and not the depth with the 7"X5" The second one I think is right, but I may be over-thinking / over complicating this step. Please someone tell me which one is right as I made little 3D models and cut them out and placed them on my pants and they both look right when I look at people's finished builds.
  2. Sorry abt the confusion, as that is correct Grumpy I was talking about the thigh pouches that go onto the pants, not the drop boxes. Then again when I get the kit I may see if I can mod the drop boxes to where they are functional so I can store my mobile and gloves in them if the need arises among some other things as I am all about functionality due to have way have too many costumes where there is not enough places to store stuff especially when I am at a convention like Dragon*con. I am always looking for a place to store stuff, guess that why I more lean towards costumes that have allot of pockets like and storage like my Cobra Crimson Guard and my Cobra Alley Viper among my District 9 1st Reaction battalion and Umbrella Centurion as they are walking store bins when I get all the gear on and molle / web gear on. Thanks for the info Grumpy now I am off to make a pattern and sew them on.
  3. This may be a dumb question or I am not seeing it right off hand, but does anyone have dimensions on the thigh pouch, as I read post on the board and looked at posted made by Mr Bungle and sgtski as both had totally different numbers. Among the pocket flap as well, need help with that. Mr Bungle says they are 7" X 5" while sgtski from the pics he had on his post about the subject says is 7.25" X 6" or is this something that going to depend on my height and where the pants are on me, as I am 6' flat barefoot. Any help on the matter is greatly appreciated as I am trying to make a 3D pattern of it so I can see how it looks before I sew the fabric on to the pants. Want to get it right the first time since their is so little fabric left.
  4. thanks for the info
  5. Thanks you all for the info as I am in the process of seam ripping the last of the pockets and all as I hope the next steps would be doing the cumber bun and thigh pockets. Is there a template/pattern for those or is it a by the seat of my pants thing when making them?
  6. Black washed my DPMS, as here the results as I already seamed ripped the front pockets and the little button flap thing (have no clue what its called or its use). But I did have a question. When you seam rip the front pockets do most of you make a front flap to cover up the front buttons of the shirt? Was just wondering as I was thinking of doing this, but when I laid out my pockets they cover up all but the last two bottom buttons. Was wondering if this is normal or do some people split the material and make the flap like a racing suits with the the button flap acting as like a mando collar? With flash W/O flash
  7. Thanks for the insight Jimah, as I finally got around to dying them again since I have some time now with the holidays looming as here my 2nd attempt at it. Taken with flash And without flash
  8. My first post for my CB as here is my DPMs dyed with Rite's Dark Brown liquid dye. Want to see what everyone thinks, as I kind of played it safe and used half the bottle as the instructions said use the whole bottle for 2lbs of fabric to which the DPM did not add up to. Here some pics as I also put my District 9 1st Reaction Battalion combat jacket next to it as its Popper brand dark brown for reference of color. With flash Without flash and pants with Popper brand dark brown in the middle
  9. Thought this might be useful for those in need of larger sizes of British Desert Disruptive Pattern material (DPM) camo. For this is the only place I have found so far that have larger sizes that does not kick you in the head with very high shipping charges as this place have up to 41 inch waist and larger tops. While shipping on my order was is not so bad, got my top and pants in my size for a total about 55 USD. Considering a pair of good BDU pants and top can run you around 60 to 70 USD here locally minus sales tax. here the link to the ebay store. http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Sierra-Alpha-Supplies
