Like I do in my Sandtrooper bucket...I'll use a hard hat suspension again. It's comfortable and holds helmet in place very well. I also have a hard hat liner cooling pad that I soak in water and attach it to the suspension that helps keep me cool in hot and humid months here in Charleston. We have brutal heat here too

For this helmet...hot glue should be more than strong enough for this lens

Snout painting - hints and tips needed
silverBoyd replied to Southscout's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Thanks for the tip. I was thinking it might be too dark (just slightly) for the snout too. But should be ok for the rectangle on the chest? -
I'll probably just use my AKER voice amp that I use along with my Sandy armor. In my Sandy armor I have the amp strapped under my chest armor and I run the mic wire under my neckseal. I'll probably do something similar for my Biker Scout.

I too want to add a light weathered look to my armor. Definately not as weathered as my Sandtrooper but something about clean white armor bugs me. I like the spray can weathering but i don't like the idea of using spray paint from a distance. I prefer acrylics since they can be taken off much easier

I emailed SA about the gloves. If a pair of XL gloves wouldn't be too big i would've ordered a pair but he currently only has S and XL gloves. He said he was looking for a new manufacturer for his glove specs. He wasn't satisfied with his current supplier. Who knows how long that will be y'know? I've seen a few Scouts that have some of the gloves that I mentioned in the first post. And those gloves they were wearing didn't have any mods. Wonder how they got passed by their GML? Unless they got cleared and then never went back to update their gloves.

That lense should be fine. I have it on my Sandtrooper bucket and you can never see through it via camera flashes. It's pretty dark from the outside.

I'm thinking of using the Humbrol Admiral Grey #5 and Humbrol Gloss Black #21 that I still have that was used on my Sandtrooper helmet build. Anyone think these paints would be ok for the TB helmet built? I believe they're the same shades that were used in A New Hope. If not, I'll get the Rustoleum Smoke Grey -
Mike @ Trooperbay rocks! The decals have to be stickers....they can't be hand-painted for the Scout, correct? I hand-painted all my Sandtrooper "decals". I think it looks better than stickers in my opinion. Didn't knwo if I could do that to my KS helmet as well.

got 1 yard of white marine-grade vinyl today at a local fabric store. Plan on starting to cover my boots in the next few days

what's the best way to fit all of the pieces together on this kit? E6000?
-
i think SC armor would do you fine

I'm the same way....I know the original glave options I found both need heavy modding but if SA will not have a new supplier of gloves for some time....what are we to do, y'know?

Good to hear....I'm planning on ordering a KS kit this weekend. Can't wait to get it

Hello fellow Scouts. I figured I would start "another Scout Boot build". I searched and searched for work boots with an even colored sole as well as one that doesn't show stitching. Apparently in the US, these are hard to come by but I was able to get my hands on a pair. I found them at WalMart of all places. I bought a pair of Brahma Steel Toe work boots at Walmart for $23.97. Turned out, the Steel-Toe boots were $4 cheaper than the non-steel toe boots. Plus, the material on the steel boots was better too in my opinion. I"m not planning on going Lancer status but I'm going to cut out the grooves around the soles. Love the way it looks. Think it makes the boots look so much better. I spent an hour hand sketching both boots last night. Here's what I have so far... Spent the afternoon cutting out 1 of my boots. Still need to finish up the heel on it though. ------UPDATED 01.12.13------ After 2 days of working on the first boot I finally have the soles finished on it. Most of it was cut by hand using an Xacto knife but the heel was partially finished using the engraving tool on my Dremel. The soles are a soft rubber and were hard to get clean edges at times. But I'm happy with the final result. Now to just get them covered by vinyl in the next week or two.

http://www.ebikerleather.com/all-leather-raincover-gauntlet-glove-velcro-strap-lining.html http://www.jcwhitney.com/interstate-leather-universal-insulated-leather-motorcycle-gloves/p2000067.jcwx?filterid=u0j1 would either of these work for approval? I know i'd still have to add the suede to the fingers and thenremove the wrist strap and zippers. Only problem I see is that the zipper doesn't go from the bottom of gauntlet to the wrists. The zipper goes left-to-right on the wrist. Once removed it might look funny. Thoughts? Worth buying? Or should I find something else that's closer?

I've dyed my shoulder canvas straps on my Sandtrooper using tea. Turned out perfect.

reading all of these posts are making me excited for ordering my kits within the next few weeks. Can't wait. Last year I finished full Mandalorian armor from scratch (lots of hard work) and now I'm really excited to start Scout Trooper armor. I'm dying to be in the 501st (Carolina Garrison). Hopefully I can join up by this summer at the latest. Also, I'm familiar with KS and SC...but what is MLCv3? Could someone please PM me so I can be in the loop. Much appreciated.
