  1. I ordered mine from Gary's Upholstery http://www.garysupholstery.com/ They have a wide variety and they are a good thickness. You can also request samples to get the right color and weight that you are looking for. I don't remember which one I ordered off their site, though. Hope this helps Sabergirl
  2. The fear of painting it.. LOL.. I think I stood there a few moments before getting up enough courage to actually press down on the paint nozzle. I just used the pinstripe material as an outside guide on where to paint. It adheres better than painters tape. Used a plastic bag to cover up the rest of it and painters tape to hold everything in place. I've got OCD issues and the curve isn't completely round to me. I'm just getting a paint pen to touch that up this weekend.
  3. There is no need to buy any strapping if you bought a full MonCal kit- I just got mine from him a week ago and everything is included.
  4. Hey guys- the one on the left I got with my MLCv3 helmet around April 2011 so this should be the current one that he is shipping out. I went ahead and used MC (Moncal's) since it has a back plate. Had a bit of trouble painting the black portion on the helmet (around the curve) - I should be able to touch that up this weekend.
  5. I'll try it out this week and post pictures. Sabergirl
  6. Has anyone thought about or tried putting corset boning in the 6 sticked areas on the front of the cummerbund? Just wanted to get some input before I ty it. Thanks Sabergirl
  7. Hi! I have both current MLC snout and the MC snout. The only difference I see is the size of the aerator. Which one should I use to be more S.A.? Also, is the aerator painted all black? Thanks Sabergirl
  8. I'm right there with you..Got my gloves, blaster, and suit ready. I'm just wating on the rest to ship. My boot vinyl should arrive on Monday so I can work on those. The armor and helmet..... cue the crickets... I'm patiently awaiting their arrival. Not complaining, I knew going it that it would be a wait. I have other costumes that I'm making for the cons coming up to keep me busy until my armor arrives. Plus I'm trying to help my man with his TK armor. Good luck on your boots.. BTW- I was told to go heavy on the glue.. I'll post my progress too.
  9. I was having a hard time finding a pair too. I wear a women's 7.5- I found a pair of kids boy size 5.5 that fits perfect! Found them on ebay for 10.00. Tracy
  10. I found some really good marine vinyl- Gary's Upholstry (located in FL) The o.a thickness is .050 The best part about it is the specs for this material- should hold up very well for a boot. PreFixx Protective Finish *Outstanding stain resistance and cleanability - most stains wash off easily with mild cleanser. *Abrasion Resistance - easily passes 400,000 cycles Wyzenbeek test using #8 cotton duck; easily passes 60,000 cycles Wyzenbeek using steel wire screen. *Resistant to common scuffing and burnishing. *Eliminates blocking and prevents premature aging. *Sulfide Stain Resistant *Urine Stain Resistant - Good to know when I run into some Ewoks! *Oil Resistant *Mildew Resistant *Superior Disinfectant Resistance-Superior resistance to staining by vinyl upholstery fabric germicides (including a one-in-ten solution of household bleach).
  11. I found some awesome marine vinyl. It is .050 in thickness, and it does not have much of a stretch to it. I think this would make a good solid boot, however I'm worried about working with this thickness. Has anyone tried to use something in this thickness, and will it work?
  12. I've had the same problem. I was told that marine vinyl is what we need. I found a few sites on-line and have ordered some samples from them before I order. If I find one that I like the thickness of, I will let you know. Tracy
  13. Hi Everyone! I'm ready to start making my boots, and I would like to find out where is the best place to buy the material. I went to JoAnn's Fabric, but it seems to be very thin. Are there any good websites that I can purchase the fabric from? Thanks Tracy
  14. Bought the same gloves a few weeks ago. Love them! Now it's making me wish I had the rest of my armor ready.
