Black Series Helmet - NOT APPROVABLE
tk 7261 replied to Donovan's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
My point is, not being able to use a helmet that has a shape that looks closer to the screen because of a mundane detail like a return edge, while being able to use one that has a shape that looks less like the originals because it has said mundane detail makes little sense in my opinion. -
Black Series Helmet - NOT APPROVABLE
tk 7261 replied to Donovan's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
I've been out of the game for a while on this. So I'm sure there is much I don't understand. The thing that's strange to me is the return edge stuff. From back before the RS helmet or the EFX ones, I would say none of them had a shape as close as this Hasbro one. All of the gap filling makes complete sense to me. New decals, filling the gaps, drilling the ears, new paint, all that makes sense. If someone did all that because they couldn't afford another one, then couldn't use the helmet because of a return edge seems kind of too much to me. Not my call though, obviously. -
Oh cool, thanks so much!

Do you think you will clear coat it, or completely repaint it?
-
Wow, The repainted helmet looks amazing. You did a really great job! Mind me asking how you went about repainting it and what type of paint you used for it?
-
Wow, I'd be very interested to see if they have shifted the paint over to glossy. I also wonder how much the weathered vs not weathered options would effect the shine of the gloss.
-
Ever any word this? Did they end up making it a bit more shiny / gloss for you?

RS Prop Masters Scout Trooper armor
tk 7261 replied to jkno's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Yea, I saw this. I really like that they are doing vlogs. And that's really cool. I'm sure that will make it a lot easier to actually get the helmets made and keep a steady supply of them. I wonder if it will be a lower cost? -
Wow, your getting a jump on this project. Very cool so far. Keep it coming

RS Prop Masters Scout Trooper armor
tk 7261 replied to jkno's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Thanks! Good to hear. I wasn't sure about how the helmet would look on smaller troopers. Wasn't sure how big it is compared to an SC. This armor looks amazing to me. -

I wonder what height range this will fit well on. -
They said they might never produce them again? Man why do all the people with these awesome molds always hold out. EFX scout, EFX ANH hero tk, now RS scout. What a bummer. Good video by the way!

You have any opinions about sc helmets for guys our size? I saw one in person this weekend and it looked smaller than I imagined. I was surprised how much I liked the look of it too considering I feel like it looks different then the movie ones shape wise. -

Thanks for the info! Any special strapping? You have to get the flight suit tailored? Also I really like your cumberbund. What pattern did you use? -

Thanks for the replies! Believe it or not I thinkin saw a post you made in a thread while searching for threads about shorter troopers Chase. I thought your armor looked really awesome so I'm glad you replied. What mods did you have to do to get it to fit like that (if any). Any particular flight suit you go that works for people out size? I was considering lifts, but you seem to look good without them. Edit: also do you use a helmet liner or no? -
I've been a Tk for a long while, and have looked into scout stuff ages ago. I have been a member here for a long while, but since I've been out of the game for a while I don't know what info I know is old and what's going on these days. So anyway one of my main concerns as a Tk is that I'm short. I'm 5'6'' 121lb. It's hard as a shorter tk to be super accurate and still be able to walk and look good haha. So I was wondering what armor makers and also helmets are best for shorter dudes. I have seen sc armor with ks helmets look good on guys my size, but is there anything especially good to people my size? I also have a semi long neck, so would a smaller helmet still be good? Or should I go for a bucket with a longer faceplate like lw to cover some of the neck? Thanks in advance.

sorry i havnt updated in a while. but i am now at college and my armor is back home, so i dont have much time to work on it. but i did work on it sume this weekend while i was home. sorry no pics, but i got prety far in glueing the shins and bicepts together. i also started bondoing them. meanwhile i painted the base coat on the most of the armor. it felt so good to get some more done. i have my kashyyyk trooper figure right next to my compute at college to remind me of how awesome it will be when i get to put it on for the first time.

sorry about dissapearing for a while. ive been living in my dorm in philly. we dont have any windows so working with bondo and epoxy is a no no. and ive also been super busy. not to mention some personal problems that have come up. im going to be going home for spring break in a couple weeks so hopefully i can get some stuff done then

thanks man. im torn. the top color looks spot on in the sade but too light in the sun. the botton one (which is a little different in real life. more like my boot color) looks better in the light but too dark in the shade. is it bad i want to go with the bottom one just cause i like it better? edit: i think ive made my decision. im going to use the top color and do a green was after i let everything cure. i printed out some color samples from from screenshots of some of the basecolors that mr. bungle, vodika, heatstock, and chad pointed out, and i think this color with a greenwash will pretty much be spot on. but i still havnt painted anything. so if any one has any objection post now or forever hold your piece.

yea thats what i meant. trimming the bicepts and shins. I only trimmed the parts that meet and fit together. by "allot of trimming" i meant i took a lot of time, not that i trimmed allot off (i work slow when it comes to trimming). but i had to fix up my old dremmel first. measure everything. make sure it fit right. i also started cutting out the visor and some of the ear. but i have to go get another type of drill bit to finish on the visor. how should i do the green was. i dont have the money to go buy a sprayer or anything.
