  1. I coated the interior with black spray PlastiDip, giving it a rubbery coating that eliminates the ABS squeak, and a bit of padding repurposed from a $5 batting helmet I picked up at Wally World. I also have mesh covering the ear openings, since the KS ears are pretty shallow and ears tend to show. Since my grape is so large, there's not much room for anything else. I do have a pair of micro fans I've yet to install...
  2. I thought that was the way it was to be done all along. Good call to make it official.
  3. Mostly on-line. Google "rare earth magnets" and you'll see a ton of options. There are some sellers that seem to be the favorites of various detachments, but for me it's about quality and price. For example, Radio Shack sells "rare earth super magnets" on line, but I wouldn't buy them. Jo-Ann's used to sell two good quality sizes in-store, but they are still available on line: http://www.joann.com...ound/xprd74968/ and http://www.joann.com...ound/xprd74521/. That said, there's no one seller that I always buy from unless I'm in a jam, then I'd hit Jo-Anns. Absolutely! I E6k'd my magnets and let the helmet sit for at least 24 hours before playing with it and admiring my genius handiwork. I did try coating them with PlastiDip to protect the magnets (these guys are so strong that sometimes they shatter when joining) and to add extra strength, but it was unnecessary and just pulled off.
  4. It all depends on the size of your head in comparison to your lid. I have a KS and a big noggin, and there is no way to wedge a chin strap/chin cup in there. The strap can be adjusted somewhat, but if you end up having problems vs. comfort, I'd say go without.
  5. If you can't find real suede, go to Joann's and look for this: http://www.joann.com/home-decor-solid-fabric-signature-series-suede-black/zprd_07951106a/ Make sure you run-stop the edges after cutting, or the "suede" will unravel all over the place.
  6. I use a Craftsman sit/stand wheeled tool box (around $60 at Sears or K-Mart). My entire kit fits perfectly, sans helmet. Plus, it has the added advantage of providing me with a place to sit while booting up. The box is light weight and very strong, so carrying it up and down stairs or sitting on it isn't a problem.
  7. Congratulations BJ! WOOT!
  8. Congratulations and condolences, Mike. Bitter sweet.
  9. Thanks again, everyone!
  10. Thanks a lot, Fellas! A little planning and hard work pays off.
  11. Um... Death Star version TB I guess?

  13. I bought the same off-white strap and used Rit color remover: http://www.ritdye.com/store/laundry-first-...r-remover-group Really brightened the strap to an almost white white , rather than the natural unbleached color.
  14. As Witness pointed out, the rifle in Battlefront looks like it was modeled after the MG-42, the successor to the venerable MG-34: Behold: MG-42 The RPF has some pretty good information concerning MG-34's and MG-42's in the SW universe, as well as the FISD. The MG-34 is far easier to come across in replica form, but I should think the MG-42 would be easy enough to scratch build.
  15. Far from accurate, but cheap and extremely light. I'm currently adding a detachable scope (magnetic), as well as numerous tweeks. http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=6930
