Are these soft parts from Etsy up to spec?

Recommended Posts

I'm pretty horrible at sewing so I turned to Etsy to see about getting some of the soft parts done, but I want them to be to the highest (Lancer) standards since that will be my ultimate costuming goal and I don't want to buy the same parts twice. I spoke to the seller who claims to be 501st approved but I really have no way of knowing. Before I dump a good portion of my next paycheck on Friday I was hoping someone could confirm / criticize these items to determine if they really are up to 501st and hopefully Lancer standards. Thanks!

Undersuit (with real suede)

The seller is willing to do all of it, including shipping, for $450. Of course I'm always open to cheaper alternatives that also meet the Lancer spec as well. Thanks in advance for your help!

Okay two things:

1) this is Cucblack's etsy shop. He's been suspended from selling here on bs.n because his shipping is very, very spotty. I will say this though, he makes quality stuff.

2) Nothing is guaranteed Lancer. It all depends on how it looks on YOU. Like I said, his stuff is quality but you may still need to adjust it to look up to Lancer spec.

I can be patient with the delivery as long as we're not talking 90 days or more I suppose. I'm happy to hear his stuff is quality, and I can have a local tailor make minor modifications if needed. However, would you suggest an alternative since there was reason enough to suspend him from selling his items here?

You'd be wise to stay away from this guy. People still waiting 2 years for product they ordered. He has made some BS attempt to get their item if they choose to pay more to ship by FedEx.

I told him I found another vendor closer to home and at a better price, which is true. I'm patient but it sounds like this guy is bad business.

Gabe made my flight suit and vest and I'm really happy with them. Just make sure you get a tape and take the time to get your measurements right for the sheet he's going to send you.

I'm going to have to hit Gabe up for a vest. I'm one of the customers that is still waiting on items from Cucblack AKA " the guy in Etsy". I made mine out of a tee shirt a year ago but it has stretched out and is almost out of regulation.

You won't go wrong there my friend. My vest is solid and it should last me a long time and it looks great. It's made of stronger material than a tee so it should last you many troops. I would recommend taking your measurements with your flight suit on. Mine is excellent but I measured a little under, I was wearing a tee shirt at the time, so it's a little tight over my flightsuit.

If you haven't already, I would recommend reaching out to them. They get a lot of orders and since it's only Joleen sewing things can get jumbled, I know that isn't the best answer, but that's the best I can offer advice-wise. When I ordered my soft-goods it took a bit as well, just had to gently remind them that I have been waiting for a while.

I did reach out. Multiple times in fact. Every time the answer is : within 2 weeks.

Joleen is pleasant enough to deal with; I just wish the pieces would arrive. The original estimate was 8 - 12 weeks, which included a fair bit of "fudge time" in my mind. Yet, it's now been over 30 weeks.

I agree, that wait time is a bit much. I'll see if I can chat up with them this weekend about what's going on.

Same here. I put in my order in February and have had multiple missed ship dates. They began telling me that I'd get a discount for the inconvenience and because other people got slotted ahead of me even though I ordered first. However today I had enough and asked for a cancellation/refund. I'm told there will be a restocking fee for materials purchased...I'll accept this but I also don't think it's entirely fair considering the situation. Very disappointed.

"Restocking fee" sounds odd. Presumably the material purchased can be used for another order; were you ordering something unique or just the standard fare? I would think the material can be used for the next customer, no?

I'm sorry to hear this and the restocking fee is nonsense IMO but the has to be a time when you say enoughs enough and move on. I would highly recommend Gabe Sci-Fi creations (the link is on the first page of this thread). He did my flight suit and vest. His work is excellent and he has great communication to his buyers.

There are several Pathfinders that also take commissions for boots and soft armor that you can find on the Trade forum. I'm sorry you had issues and it's good that you posted up so others don't end up in the same boat.
