Hi Jake,

please see our findings below:

- cod piece: upper part need more padding

- belt sits too high; as a rule of thumb the pouches should sit on top of the belt

- mud flap should be about an inch wider

- TD tube: color should be a medium grey

- suit is bunched up between the knee guards and the boots

Optional but recommended:

- boots: the sole (particularly the front part) is too big

Should I create a new topic to ask questions about making it Lancer approved?

Hey Jack,

please feel free to ask any questions in this thread.

Cheers

Most of that seems pretty straight forward. I can disassemble the bomb and spray up the corrugated plastic with darker grey. I need a new piece of suede leather and make it an inch wider, I will probably have to sew up a new cummerbund that's longer vertically, the upper portion of the cod that isn't as tight as the bottom I have extra filler I can stuff into it to tighten the top. I can pull my pant legs down tighter to reduce bunching. My biggest concern are the boots. Am I shaving off some of the sides of the soles?

Yeah, I think most points can be fixed with a new cummerbund/cod piece.

Not sure if you can fix the current boots without affecting their integrity. Also the general shape of the underlying boot is not very accurate so you might just consider this as potential future upgrade.

Can I still get lancer without buying a new pair of boots?

I am trying to figure out what the concern with the cod is? I created it using duck cloth and I inserted 2 volara foam pieces on the top and the bottom. Are you concerned with how the top volara foam piece casts a shadow right above the stitching or how it's baggy and not tight on the sides.

Yes, but it was a close call.

Yes, the shadow on the area above the arch gives the appearance as if it is not padded (or to a lesser degree as the area below the arch).

I've redone the bund and the cod, I did a test fitting earlier, the belt sits a little lower and allows for the pouches to lay right on top of the belt. I've extended the bund so that there is half an inch above what it used to be. I am planning on making all changes and then getting pictures.

  • 2 weeks later...

These images are my means to get approved for my pant legs being less baggy between the knees and the boots, the belt being in the correct position and my cod piece being fixed. I also kinda wanted show off my painting job for my DLT-19X. It took me quite a while to finish it and I think it looks SWEET!

Thanks for the feedback! I am planning on getting the mudflap fixed and the TD darkened this weekend! Thanks for helping me in this process I've been building this kit in hopes of beimg lancer for the last 3 to 4 years. Like all things in life, ANYTHING is possible you just need to determine if what you want is worth the effort to get to where you want to go. Then you take the steps to get there.

I elongated the Mud Flap by 1" and I also darkened the TD Bomb Tube! What do ya think?

I realized that the grey was too dark. So I mixed a light brown and a light grey and I think the color is really close to the screen color. Do you need me to kit back up to show the bomb with my kit?

Hi Jake,

TD tube looks great but the point for the mud flap was to make it wider not longer...

Cheers
