Hello there, fellow pathfinders.
I'm Will from the Golden Gate Garrison, BH82886. I have a few approved costumes already but have always been tempted by the legendary shoretrooper. Honestly, I could do almost any costume from Rogue One and be excited about it. I've been lurking here for a while but have finally kicked off my Shoretrooper Squad Leader (R1), and have been having a blast on this build so far!
Helmet - Mr Paul
Soft goods - Darkside Closet
Boots - Orca Bay
Gloves - Endor Finders
Armor - Imperial Surplus
Thanks! I ended up using little screws, coated in Gorilla Glue. They seem to be holding pretty well, and there's enough infill on the boxes that they had something to grab on to.
I finished the ab/kidney plate! I decided to keep them as two separate pieces. Since I'm dealing with PLA, this is the easiest way to ensure they're not going to snap as I put them on. I used a neoprene flap with snaps on either side. And, I made two straps that snap onto the ab and kidney to hold the whole thing up above my hips like suspenders. Pretty pleased with it, and can get it all on by myself, which is an important part of this build for me.
Next up - I need to finish an SE-14r blaster for a fellow Midwest Garrison officer before C2E2 next week...and then I'll be looking at printing the final three pieces: the greaves and back plate!
Thanks so much for stopping by and having a look!
I haven't used clear coat on my armour, I only used acrylics liberally on surface of final paint to fill edges and grooves where grime would gather.
For the heavy weathering I used latex mask between coats of Montana Gold and peeled to reveal chipping scoring.
Hope this helps. Thanks again for stopping by.
Loved reading your entire build progress!
Do you have any further details on how you weather using the acrylic? I'm currently using the same for my weathering. I put the acrylic on the dark brown undercoat, is that what you did and then just peel it when its all painted? Do you clear coat any layers?
Thanks!
